Tryptophan $[\chi_{2}]$ dihedral angle distribution. The 36 tryptophan fragments in the CSD show several apparent minima, including an eclipsed C^α—C^β—C^γ—C^δ1 dihedral conformation. This is apparent in $[\chi_{1}]$ , $[\chi_{2}]$ tryptophan distribution plots from protein structures as well (Laskowski, MacArthur et al., 1993).
