Powder diffraction in the petroleum and petrochemical industries International Tables for Crystallography (2019). Vol. H, ch. 7.11, pp. 843-854 [ doi:10.1107/97809553602060000985 ] Abstract Powder diffraction is used in the petroleum and petrochemical exploration and production industries in many ways, including analysis of rocks and corrosion deposits. Clay-mineral analysis presents particular challenges. Studies of several corrosion deposits are discussed in detail and raw data are provided. Quantitative analysis of zeolite-containing catalysts requires careful control of many experimental variables. Several examples of locating and characterizing extraframework species (both cations and adsorbed gas molecules) in FAU-structure type zeolites are discussed. Both ex situ and in situ catalyst analyses are described. |
